Twilight
Edward in the sunlight was shocking. I couldn't get used to it, though I'd been staring him all afternoon. His skin, white despite the faint flash from yesterday's hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. He lay perfectly still in he grass, hi shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare. His glistering, pale lavender lids were shut, though of course he didn't sleep. A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal.
I touched his face. ''Look,'' I said. ''I love you more than everything else in the world combined. Isn't that enough?''
''Yes it is enough,'' he answered, smiling. ''Enough for forever.''
And he leaned down to press his cold lips once more to my throat.

'' I can't believe how quick it was. I didn't feel a thing- they're very good,'' he mused, closing his eyes again and pressing his lips against my hair. His voice was like honey and velvet. ''Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath, hath had no power yet upon thy beauty,'' he murmured, and I recognized the line spoken by Romeo in the tomb. The clock boomed out its final chime. ''You smell just exactly the same as always,'' he went on. ''So maybe this is hell. I don't care. I'll take it.''

Breaking Dawn
It was a strange feeling--not surprising, I supposed, since everything felt strange now--this being a natural at something. As human, I'd never been the best at anything. I was okay dealing with Renee, but probably lots of people could have done better; Phil seemed to be holding his won. I was a good student, but never the top of the class. Obviously, I could be counted out of anything athletic. Not artistic or musical, no particular talents to brad of. Nobody ever gave away a trophy for reading books. After eighteen years of mediocrity, I was pretty used to being average. I realized now that I'd long ago given up any aspirations of shining at anything. I just did the best with what I had, never quite fitting into my world.
So this was really different. I was amazing now--to them and to myself. It was like I had been born to be a vampire. The idea made me want to laugh, but it also made my want to sing. I found my true place in the world, the place I fit, the place I shined.
And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.
